Jennifer Garner was born on the 17th of April, 1972 in Houston, Texas but was born to be raised in Charleston, West Virginia. The father of Jennifer Garner, William John Garner, worked as a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at the local college. Following in the footsteps of her father she earned a chemical engineering degree. Then she moved into New York in order to fulfill her ambitions as an actor. While appearing in Broadway shows, she was employed as a waitress. Her first husband Scott Foley met her on the show "Felicity," where she played a cameo. Garner had her breakthrough with her romantic comedic film "13 Going on 30" in which she portrayed the role of a teenage girl trapped within the body of a 30-year-old. Garner chose Gary Winick as the director of her film. They continued looking for roles until Winick's passing in 2011. Garner was appointed ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. The role includes promotion of national literacy and nutrition, as well as early education and various other aspects. Garner was appointed as a director on the board of this non-profit organisation in 2014. Garner advocates for early developmental stages of children. She is an ambassador and often interacts with families that are involved in the organization's Early Steps to School Success program that guides parents on ways to assist the children of the early years learn.
